Westbourne Weekend 2010 – Tickets on Sale
Even though it’s only just beginning to feel natural writing the correct year on everything, planning for this years Westbourne Weekend is well underway.
The Westbourne Weekend for this year is Friday 25th to Sunday 27th of June. The Summer Ball kicks off the weekend on the Friday night followed by the Family Day on Saturday and finishes with a church service under canvas on the Sunday morning.
The theme is the WAGS Ball which ties in nicely to what will probably be the most talked about topic of the evening “I knew England would get through the first round!” or “I can’t believe they lost to Slovenia!”. The theme means that all the girls have a real excuse to go completely over board with glamour and glitz whilst the boys can feel right at home wearing some bling!
The WAGS Ball will start at 7:00 with a complementary glass of fizz for all with the aim to have tables seated by 8:00 to make sure that there is plenty of time to enjoy the live music for dancing afterwards. Tables are in 10’s with a few 12’s and numbers are limited so get your “team” together as soon as possible. It would make good sense to nominate a “captain” to do the queuing and buy the tickets for the “team” at 12:00 in the village hall on the 24th April. Tickets are £25 each and this gets you a seat at a completely laid table in the beautifully decorated marquee with live music later. All you need to do is provide your food. A great way to do this is get the “team” working together and come up with a formation game plan for “forwards, middles and backs”. “Half time” refreshments will be on sale from the very reasonably priced bar provided by the Westbourne Club so no need to weigh yourselves down on the way to the fixture (a full price list will be on display at the ticket sale).
Family Day on Saturday is for everyone. The world famous duck race will start the day at 12:00 and then up to the school field for a kids version of the Groove! There will be activities spread across the afternoon and into the evening including; magician, disco and live music. There will be food available on site at cost price as well as the special kids bar. Tickets go on sale at the same time as the Ball (24th April in the Village Hall) and are £10 for adults and £5 for under 16’s and only £1 a duck.
On Sunday morning Father Frank will lead the congregation in a special Family Service in the marquee. We are very grateful to the school for allowing us to use their playing field for the whole weekend.
